Short answer. Barrier-island houses on Siesta Key, Longboat Key, and Lido Key take Gulf weather that an inland Orlando eave does not. Salt air is a reason to look at the finish, the fasteners, and the downspout route on that house. This page does not publish a corrosion rate or a year count for aluminum in salt air.

01 / FIELD NOTE

These islands are a Sarasota request.

Siesta Key, Longboat Key, and Lido Key are barrier islands served from the Sarasota side of PrimeFlow’s work. A gutter there is measured on that roof edge, with that access, and with the finish the owner wants to look at up close. It is not planned from an Orlando oak note. Call (941) 404-3901 or start at the Sarasota estimate.

02 / FIELD NOTE

Salt air is a site condition. This page has no corrosion rate.

Coastal air can leave salt on metal. This page does not cite a lab rate for how fast gutter aluminum pits, and it does not say painted aluminum fails in a set number of years on the Gulf. ASTM B209 does not state a coastal service life. Building America says aluminum can dent or crack from impact. It does not discuss salt spray. What the visit can record is pitting, chalking, or staining that is already visible, and whether the fasteners and hangers are still holding.

  • Look at the finish that is already on the house.
  • Look at hangers and fasteners, not only the trough.
  • Keep dissimilar metals from being treated as the same metal.
  • Name the coil and the color in the written scope.
03 / FIELD NOTE

The rainy season on this coast is the Tampa Bay note.

NWS Tampa Bay defines a rainy season for Southwest Florida and for the rest of West Central Florida. That note is the coastal storm pattern for this market. It is not the NWS Melbourne note for east-central Florida, and it is not a design rainfall for one roof on Siesta Key or Longboat Key. Afternoon storms are a reason to check outlets before the wetter months.

04 / FIELD NOTE

Material stays .032 aluminum unless the scope says otherwise.

On applicable residential installations PrimeFlow uses .032 aluminum, hidden hangers, and oversized downspouts. A barrier-island house still gets that practice only when the written scope says so. Copper is a different material and a different guide. This page does not switch a Key house to copper because of salt air, and it does not claim aluminum is immune to the coast.

Orlando is the other coast

The premium aluminum page is an Orlando product detail. It is not an order for Lido Key, Longboat Key, or Siesta Key.

05 / FIELD NOTE

Roofing, soffit, and fascia on the islands stay with those trades.

Salt and sun can show up on more than the gutter. PrimeFlow does not replace the roof, the soffit, the fascia, or the stucco. Those trades are coordinated when the edge needs them. The gutter scope names the runs, the downspouts, and the discharge the lot allows. The estimate is free. Work is booked after the written scope and the required deposit, unless a written waiver says otherwise.
