Short answer. After a storm, walk the house from the ground, photograph every damaged gutter run, downspout and fascia section, and call your insurer before permanent repairs. Citizens Property Insurance tells its policyholders to give photos to the adjuster and to wait for the adjuster to authorize permanent tear-out or repair. Other insurers set their own process.
The photo instruction that was read is a Citizens instruction.
On its After a Loss page, Citizens tells policyholders to document the damage: keep damaged items so the adjuster can inspect them, take photos, and provide those photos to the adjuster. The same page says emergency steps such as a tarp may be needed, and that the adjuster must inspect and authorize permanent tear-out, removal, or repair before those permanent steps are completed. That is Citizens’ process for Citizens policyholders. It is not a sentence from every Florida insurer.
A photo is a record. It is not a payment.
Nothing on the page that was read says a photograph of a gutter guarantees payment, or that gutter damage is a covered loss. The existing insurance article on this site already keeps that limit. This Orlando page does not widen it. If the policy is not Citizens, use that insurer’s own instructions.
- From the ground, photograph pulled hangers, open seams, bent downspouts, and where water is leaving.
- Date the photos and note the address.
- Do not climb a wet tile roof or work near downed lines.
- Ask the insurer before permanent gutter replacement if you want that work considered on a claim.
Repair and replacement are still a gutter scope.
A loose section can be a repair. A run that has left the fascia, or a layout that no longer matches the roof, can be a replacement. PrimeFlow decides that on a site visit, not from a storm photo alone. .032 aluminum, hidden hangers about every 16 inches, and oversized downspouts are PrimeFlow practices only as the drawing shows them. They are not a code requirement stated on this page.
The workmanship warranty does not cover the hurricane.
PrimeFlow offers a 7-year workmanship warranty on its own installation. The terms exclude hurricanes, tropical storms, named storms, wind-driven rain, and falling limbs. Storm damage to an existing gutter is not turned into a warranty claim by this article. Orlando requests use (407) 902-7639.
Orlando only
This page is the Orlando walkthrough. Sarasota storm calls use the Sarasota office and are not ordered from this article.
Start with the checklist, then the written scope.
The hurricane-season checklist is the ground-level list. A free estimate can follow if something is loose or gone. Work is booked from the written scope. This page has no price and no claim that a carrier approved a job.
Sources and limits
Citizens is one insurer. This page does not say every policy pays for gutters, and it does not say a photo gets a claim paid.
