01 / FIELD NOTE

Watch where the sheet actually lands.

People describe metal roofs as shedding harder than shingles in a summer downpour. The fit still depends on where that water lands, how much roof feeds the run, and whether the outlet can take it. The existing overflow question already says rain can leave the roof edge faster than the gutter collects it, and that one symptom is not one cause.

02 / FIELD NOTE

Building America is a system note, not a metal-roof test.

The Building America gutter guide describes gutters and downspouts that conduct roof water to grade, and it publishes national termination distances. It does not measure standing-seam overshoot in Central Florida. Those national distances are not adopted as Florida law on this page.

  • Watch one hard rain from the ground and note where water misses the gutter.
  • Check valleys and the length of roof feeding that run.
  • Do not assign 7-inch because the roof is metal.
  • Do not treat .032 as a code requirement for metal roofs.
03 / FIELD NOTE

Seven-inch and .032 stay practice, not automatic.

A 7-inch gutter is reviewed when the roof area, valleys, and outlets support it. A 6-inch gutter can still be the right run. .032 aluminum and hidden hangers about every 16 inches are PrimeFlow practices on applicable installs, only as the drawing shows. The code was not cited on this page as requiring either one.

04 / FIELD NOTE

Central Florida is the example. Sarasota metal roofs use the Sarasota path.

The summer-downpour example is Central Florida. Orlando requests use (407) 902-7639 and the Orlando 7-inch page. Sarasota requests use (941) 404-3901 and the Sarasota 7-inch page. The same limit on invented overshoot applies in both markets.

Workmanship warranty

PrimeFlow offers a 7-year workmanship warranty. The terms exclude overflow where the roof demand exceeds the system, including declined larger gutters or extra downspouts.

05 / FIELD NOTE

The estimate records the edge that was seen.

A free estimate can say whether water is missing the gutter, and whether a different profile or another outlet is in the scope. It does not publish a flow rate. This page has no price.

Sources and limits

No source read for this page gave a shedding speed, an overshoot distance, or a Sarasota rainfall statistic, so none is stated.
